Our new ceramics exhibition brings together some of our favourite tea cups, teapots and other items from collections.

This exhibition is displayed alongside modern ceramics by Ann Stokes, Lucie Rie and David Leach.  Also on display are Victorian and Edwardian tea sets from some of Britain’s finest pottery manufacturers.

Free Lunchtime Talk: Abstract painting in the ‘60s (with Katie Ackrill)

This tour of Pop and Prosperity will focus on a selection of abstract paintings on display.

This exhibition includes works by Howard Hodgkin, Roger Hilton and William Gear. Katie Ackrill will discuss the context in which abstract art flourished during the 1960s, and shed some light on some of the more challenging works on display.

Lunchtime talks are free, start at 12.30pm and last for approximately 30minutes.

At the Civic Offices, 18 artworks are on display, demonstrating the quality and variety of Swindon’s art collection

This vibrant display includes important early 20th century paintings by Roger Fry, Sylvia Gosse and Kyffin Williams. The exhibition also features artists with a strong association to Swindon, including Harold Dearden, David Bent and Desmond Morris.

Free to enter.

Civic Offices opening hours Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm.

At STEAM depictions of Swindon and its surrounding countryside from the 19th and early 20th centuries are included in displays of the GWR Offices.

Paintings by well-known local artists, including George Puckey and Kate Tryon, enhance the existing exhibits and show the impact of the GWR on the area.

STEAM opening hours: Monday – Saturday 10am-5pm, Sundays 11am – 4pm
