Swindon Museum & Art Gallery regularly works with local colleges and universities.
We can offer a range of bespoke activities to support learning, including talks, tours and workshops focused on our permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. We can enable access to collections currently in store and provide information around careers within the museums and galleries sector.
We continue to develop a variety of research projects and placements aimed at students which focus on our Archaeology, Egyptology and Modern Art collections. We also offer 4 work experience placements a year. Each summer, we run a week long work experience placement aimed at students in HE and FE considering a career in the museums and galleries sector.

From Where I’m Standing
During Autumn 2016, Swindon College worked closely with artists participating in the exhibition From Where I’m Standing. Arts Council England Grants for Arts funding supported artist workshops, talks and gallery visits for 70 HE and FE students.
Natural World Gallery Refresh
During the summer of 2015, Luisa, a student on the Museum Studies MA course at Bath Spa University gained invaluable experience by fully cataloguing the collections on display in the Natural World Gallery. Luisa improved the way our collections are displayed, as well as integrating some of our stored collections into the refreshed gallery.
