From Tuesday 3rd July 2018, Swindon Museum and Art Gallery’s opening times are 11.00am to 4.30pm.
We are open for school and group visits on Mondays, by appointment only. We are closed on Bank Holidays. Please note that visits of 15 people+ or school group during opening hours that have not booked in advance will only be admitted at the discretion of the management. We reserve the right to refuse admission where we believe there is a safety or capacity risk.
There is a small range of souvenir gift items and local art to buy next to the reception desk at the top of the stairs. These include pocket money items that will help you commemorate your visit, and a selection of books. We can now accept card payments (minimum spend £5). Credit card payments will incur an additional 1.75% charge.
Exhibition Early Closure
Due to planned maintenance work, the An Uneasy Peace and The Phelps Bequest exhibitions will close at 4.30pm on Thursday 23 August. The Art Gallery will then re-open on Wednesday 12 September with Cicatrix.
Planned Gallery Closures
Art Gallery - The main Art Gallery has a number of beautifully presented exhibitions each year. However, in order to changeover exhibitions, the Art Gallery will be closed during the following periods:
From 4.30pm on Thursday 23 August – Wednesday 12 September 2018. Re-opening on Wednesday 12 September with Cicatrix: The Scar of Healed Wound and Art and Conflict: Works from the Swindon Collection.
From 4.30pm on Saturday 1 December –Wednesday 12 December 2018. Exhibition details to follow soon.
The rest of the Museum will be open during these dates.

There is no parking available at the Museum & Art Gallery but there are car parks within a short walking distance of the venue. Please click on the links to access information on Britannia and Prospect Place car parks.
