Swindon Museum & Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11.00am to 4.30pm.
We are open for school and group visits on Mondays, by appointment only. We are closed on Bank Holidays. Please note that visits of 15 people+ or school group during opening hours that have not booked in advance will only be admitted at the discretion of the management. We reserve the right to refuse admission where we believe there is a safety or capacity risk.
There is a small range of souvenir gift items and local art to buy next to the reception desk at the top of the stairs. These include pocket money items that will help you commemorate your visit, and a selection of books. We can now accept card payments (minimum spend £5). Credit card payments will incur an additional 1.75% charge.
Planned Gallery Closures
Art Gallery - The main Art Gallery has a number of beautifully presented exhibitions each year. However, in order to changeover exhibitions, the Art Gallery will be closed during the following period(s):
– From 4.30pm on Thursday 14 March to Monday 25 March. Out of the Box: An Exhibition of Paintings by David Bent will open on Tuesday 26 March at 11am.
– From 4.30pm on Saturday 20 July to Monday 29 July. Connections: An exhibition by Group 7 will open on Tuesday 30 July at 11am.
– Partial Art Gallery closure from 4.30pm on Saturday 1 June to Monday 10 June. Town and Country will open on Tuesday 11 June at 11am.
Museum - The two Ground Floor front rooms (Galleries 1 and 2) have a regular changeover of exhibitions. In order to install new exhibitions, these rooms will be closed during the following period(s):
– From 4.30pm on Wednesday 15 May to Monday 27 May. Infocus Stitching will open on Tuesday 28 May at 11am.
The rest of the Museum will be open during these dates.

There is no parking available at the Museum & Art Gallery but there are car parks within a short walking distance of the venue. Please click on the links to access information on Britannia and Prospect Place car parks.
